Cynthia Jones, (Trey's Mom) hold candles along with
family and friends to remember the life of her son Trey.

A Prayer Vigil was held on July 30, 2007, 7:00 PM at the Glenarden Apartments, where over two hundred people gathered in remembrance of Eugene Joseph Jones, known as "Trey" to his family and friends.  Some came with stuffed animals and others balloons, but most came with the questions; why another child's life, why another shooting and why Trey?
He was loved by many and the first male born within twenty years in his family.  Cynthia Jones, Trey’s mom (the second of three generations) along with his Great Grandmother and older sister, all named Cynthia, prayed over their candles, in hopes that the killer(s) would come forth soon, so that the family can have closure. Treys funeral was held August 4, 2007, in the District of Columbia.

who was only 16 years old.

The Prince George's County Police responded to the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, Maryland to investigate a homicide that occurred on July 27, 2007 at approximately 10:05 PM at the Glenarden Apartments, due to a shooting report.  On arrival to the scene, the officers discovered that the victim, Eugene Joseph Jones, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  Crime Solvers has offered a cash reward of up to $25,000 for the tip that leads to the arrest and indictment of the suspect(s). Additionally,
The Victims' Rights Foundation, Inc. has offered a cash reward of $5,000, bringing the total reward of up to $30,000.

The Victims' Rights Foundation (VRF) was founded fourteen years ago by Mr. W. Gregory Wims who states, "The Victims Rights Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to mobilizing thousands of volunteers in supporting victims of violent crimes and attacks in America.  Through a variety of programs and services, the Foundation encourages people from all walks of life to volunteer either their prayers, time and/or financial resources in helping victims recover from violent crimes against them or their loved ones.”

The VRF has continued to comfort the victims’ family during this difficult time.  As one parent who lost her child in the Glenarden community two years prior, on Mother's Day stated "the senseless gun violence in our community must stop, it is up to each of us to do our share.  We are the eyes and ears of our community and every mother and father plays an important role to all our children.  If we can reach out to our young teens, our young men and women in an effective way, maybe we can prevent some of these senseless murders.”  She ended by saying, “more communication with our children in the neighborhood... that's what’s really missing".

The investigation is continuing.  Anyone with information, call the Prince Georges Police Dept.  Homicide Unit (301) 772-4925 or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Solvers at (1-866) 411-TIPS, (8477) please refer to case 07-208-1829
